Cat Toys for Your Furry Friends

As a person that creates all sorts of crafts I have remnants of all colors, shapes, and sizes.  I enjoy using these in my krazy quilts, but also find other fun items to make.  I am working on a separate page here on my website that will cover several uses for your remnants.  For today I will cover toys I enjoy making from my two kitty friends, Smokie and Bella.

Cat toys can be fun to make.  These delightful gifts to your feline friends will provide them with hours of play and also allow you to share special time with them.  Often as we watch Smokie and Bella playing with their many toys, the camera comes out and really funny photos result.  Even though I feel certain that our kitties do understand the perfect shapes of birds, mice, and lizards, I am blessed in the fact that they are not overly critical of my ability with art and enjoy my shapes as I create them.

I have made patterns for a bird, mouse, and lizard.  I make the top and bottom the same and use a very tight weave of fabric.  I stitch these right sides together, leaving a small opening to turn them right side out. In most cases I add catnip to the stuffing or fill it completely with catnip.  This is very inexpensive to purchase and makes every toy an even more exciting treat for the cats.   I often add a small strip of fabric for the mouse’s tail and sometimes I put streamers on the birds’ tails.  Any shape of toy gets Bella going crazy, so I am sure your kitty will even enjoy a square or triangle shape that you create.  It will show your furry buddy that you love them.
