I cannot speak highly enough about krazy quilts. These patchwork quilts can be crafted for any number of reasons and no two are ever alike. Gather material of a general nature or collect items toward the theme you want to focus on. Be sure all the material is clean and pressed smooth. I like to use a bed sheet or portion thereof as the base for my krazy quilts. Pins and a pair or sharp fabric scissors are the last items you will need to have on your crafting table. Once the krazy quilt top is completed you will want to add a nice backing material, but that will take awhile to get ready for. A fun memory krazy quilt you could consider for one of your children would involve saving all the tee shirts that they acquire while taking dance lessons or playing ball. Each of these shirts will have some sort of memory with the year included in the front or back print. Cut those out in varying shapes. Turn under the edges about one quarter inch and place them around on your base fabric. Once you have the main theme pieces loosely pinned in some pattern of your liking, shift over to various colors and prints of pre-washed cotton fabric that will be pleasing to the eye. Some edges will turn under and others parts of the fabric will slide under the edge of another piece of fabric. As you complete covering an area of the quilt base, I suggest machine stitching. There are a variety of decorative stitches that can really bring out the fun when used with a highlighting color or thread. Just follow this basic structure for any krazy quilt you decide to make. Back the base with a solid light fleece and you have a very memorable gift. Enjoy emptying your scrap bin. |

I certainly enjoyed the visit to your site. I really like doing crafts that help me relax, especially when I was going out to work in an office environment.
